HOMESCHOOL CLASSES Sept 2011. 2012, Regular Classes are for children ages 7-12 Itty Bitty Classes for siblings of those taking the main class. (Ages 3-6 only) CMH will only honor details as posted on the website. No refunds unless class is cancelled by CMH – no exceptions. Parents may not sit in on classes. Commonplace Books September 2, 2011: 11am-12:30pm. Come learn all about the 18th century version of blogging! Regular Classes: Make your own commonplace book. members $5; non-members $8 Itty Bitty Classes (3-6 year olds): Make journals with grocery bags $5; parent must remain with child. Reservations required. Deadline August 31. Limit 10 students.
Pumpkin Decorating October 7, 2011: 11am-1pm Let’s decorate a pumpkin while discussing how the harvest was important to the early settlers. Regular Classes: Decorate your own pumpkin. members $3; non-members $5 Itty Bitty Classes (3-6 year olds): Paper pumpkin decorating $5; parent must remain with child. Reservations required. Deadline October 4. Limit 15 students. 18th Century Cooking November 11, 2011:10:30am-12:30pm We will and learn about the eating habits of our forefathers. Regular Classes: Prepare an 18th century meal over an open fire. members $8; non-members $10 Itty Bitty Classes (3-6 year olds): Cookie decorating. $5; parent must remain with child. Reservations required. Deadline November 9. Limit 7 students Scherenschnitte & Qill Pen Writing December 2, 2011: 11am-12:30pm Make your very own piece of artwork. You will also be able to Regular Classes: Learn the German technique of scherenschnitte! and practice 18th century script while writing with a quill pen. members $5; non-members $8 Itty Bitty Classes ( 3-6 year olds): Paper Crafts. $5; parent must remain with child. Reservations required. Deadline November 30. Limit 15 students. Natural Dyeing February 3, 2012: 10:30am-1pm Come learn about all the resources our forefathers had for dyeing their cloth. Regular Classes: You will get to dye a silk or cotton handkerchief for your very own! members $5; non-members $8 Itty Bitty Classes (3-6 year olds): Dyeing with Rit dye $5; parent must remain with child. Reservations required. Deadline February 1. Limit 8 students.
18th Century Cooking March 2, 2012: 10:30am-12:30pm. Learn about the eating habits of 18th century Mecklenburg citizens. Regular Classes: We will prepare an 18th century meal over an open fire. members $8; non-members $10 Itty Bitty Classes (3-6 year olds): Cookie Decorating $5; parent must remain with child. Reservations required. Deadline February 29. Limit 7 students.
Weaving April 6, 2012: 10:30am-12:30pm. You will learn about how our 18th century ancestors made their own cloth. Regular Classes: Practice weaving on a small handmade loom that you can keep. members $8; non-members $10 Itty Bitty Classes (3-6 year olds): Yarn Activity. $5; parent must remain with child. Reservations required. Deadline April 3. Limit 8 students.
Musket Cartridges & Weaponry May 4, 2012: 10:30-12:30pm. Learn about 18th century weapons used in the Revolutionary war. Regular Classes: Make your own musket cartridges and practice military drills. members $5; non-members $8 Itty Bitty Classes (3-6 year olds): Coordinating activity to be determined. $5; parent must remain with child. Reservations required. Deadline May 2. Limit 15 students.
