Education at the Museum

Dedicated to helping visitors explore the history of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, the museum hosts a variety of educational programs for visitors of all ages. They include:

School Programs

  • School tours for the Charlotte Museum of History and Hezekiah Alexander Homesite are available throughout the school year. To make your school's reservation, please contact Liz Huseman. School tours include a downloadable tour packet.
  • Outreach opportunities include artifact-filled traveling trunks. Each trunk includes objects that can be handled by students, resource books, and accompanying teacher materials. To reserve a trunk, please contact Liz Huseman.
  • The museum offers a variety of special programs for Homeschoolers.

Adult Programs

  • Tours of the Homesite are offered at at 11:30am, 1:15pm, and 3:15pm daily, Tuesday-Friday, and 1:15pm and 3:15pm on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Group tours for adults are available by reservation.
  • The museum periodically offers lectures designed for adult audiences that focuses on literary and historical interests.

Youth and Family Programs

  • The museum sponsors several special events throughout the year that include activities and educational opportunities for everyone in the family. View our calendar to schedule your visit!

Summer Programs

  • Bring your summer camp to the Charlotte Museum of History for the day by scheduling a special group tour.
