Education at the Museum
Dedicated to helping visitors explore the history of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, the museum hosts a variety of educational programs for visitors of all ages. They include:
School Programs
- School tours for the Charlotte Museum of History and Hezekiah Alexander Homesite are available throughout the school year. To make your school's reservation, please contact Carly Getson.School tours include a downloadable tour packet.
- Outreach opportunities include artifact-filled traveling trunks. Each trunk includes objects that can be handled by students, resource books, and accompanying teacher materials. To reserve a trunk, please contact Carly Getson.
- The museum offers a variety of special programs for Homeschoolers.
Adult Programs
- Tours of the Homesite are offered at 1:15 and 3:15pm daily.
- Group tours for adults are available by reservation.
- The museum periodically offers lectures designed for adult audiences that focuses on literary and historical interests.
Youth and Family Programs
- The museum sponsors several special events throughout the year that include activities and educational opportunities for everyone in the family. View our calendar to schedule your visit!
