Dedicated to helping visitors explore the history of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, the museum hosts a variety of educational programs for visitors of all ages. They include:

School Programs

School tours for the Hezekiah Alexander Homesite are filled through the remainder of the school year. Self-guided and gallery tours are still available. To make your school's reservation, please contact Sheryl Jacoppo at (704) 568-1774 x.113.

  • School tours are available by reservation and include a downloadable tour packet
  • Outreach Opportunities include artifact-filled traveling trunks. Each trunk includes objects that can be handled by students, resource books and accompanying teacher materials.
  • The museum offers a variety of special programs for Homeschoolers.

Adult Programs

  • Tours of the Homesite are offered at 1:15 and 3:15 p.m. daily.

  • Group tours for adults are available by reservation.
  • The museum offers a variety of lectures designed for adult audiences that focuses on various literary and historical interests.

Youth and Family Programs

  • Throughout the year the museum sponsors several special events that include activities and information for everyone in the family.

  • The Hands-on-History Room in the museum provides interactive fun for children of all ages. The activities are based on current exhibits and colonial life.
