Remembering George Washington with Dr. Peter HenriquesFebruary 22, at 7 p.m.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - On Thursday, February 22 at 7 p.m. The Charlotte Museum of History hosts a presentation by Dr. Peter Henriques, Professor of History Emeritus at George Mason University. In celebration of George Washington’s birthday Henriques, a George Washington scholar, will present a program in conjunction with his book, Realistic Visionary: A Portrait of George Washington.
“A deeply thoughtful appraisal of Washington’s career and character…” says Joseph J. Ellis, Mount Holyoke College, author of His Excellency: George Washington. “The chapters on slavery and religion are especially beguiling. Henriques’ approach allows him to zoom in on the most salient and controversial issues with a focused clarity not possible in a conventional biography.”
