Collections Internship

 

Project Description:

The Collections Department is responsible for the processing and care of the artifacts and documents that make up the permanent collection of the Museum. This department could not function without the dedication and caring of its volunteers and interns. In return, we do everything possible to ensure that the experience, whether long or short term, is educational, interesting and challenging.

 

Hours: Flexible depending on department and interns’ needs.

 

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.

 

Qualifications:

  • Patient, organized and observant

  • Write well and enjoy research

  • Experience with simple computer databases or are willing to learn

  • Can operate a digital camera

  • Can use small hand and power tools  

  • Skilled and careful at handling and working with delicate objects

  • Can crawl around on the floor, lift heavy or bulky things, and climb ladders

  • Have a good sense of humor

Education Internship – Tour Guide

Project Description:
Under guidance of the Education Department, the intern will conduct school tours of both the Homesite and Museum galleries for a variety of ages. The intern will be given thorough training and a manual for tours, as well as appropriate costuming for Homesite tours. They may also help in developing tours and new approaches to the tours already established.    

Hours: This internship requires at least 15 hours per week for a minimum of 15 week.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children

  • Interest in history and education

  • Enthusiasm

  • Creativity

Communications Internship 

Project Description:
Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing & Events, the intern will assist in the Public Relations and Marketing efforts at the museum. 

Hours: Flexible depending on department and interns’ needs.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.

Qualifications:

  • Be Creative and Enthusiastic

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Possess excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Be able to complete assigned tasks on time

  •  Expereienced with related computer programs including all Microsoft Office and Adobe  programs
  • Preferably a student working towards a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Marketing.

Development Internship 

Project Description:
Under the guidance of the Director of Membership, the intern will assist in the development and fundraising efforts at the museum. 

Hours: Flexible depending on department and interns’ needs.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.

Qualifications:

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Possess excellent time management and organizational skills

  •  Experienced with computer databases, as well as all Microsoft Office programs
  • Be able to complete assigned tasks on time and is attentive to details

  • Preferably a student working towards a degree in Business or related field
