1:00pm-5:00pm Sunday

The museum will be closed to the public January 10-14, 2011 for annual maintenance and conservation of the museum, collection, grounds, and historic buildings.

 

Guided tours of the Hezekiah Alexander Homesite are at 1:15 and 3:15pm daily.

Tours limited to 20 people. Please register at the desk when you arrive at the museum, as the tours are first come, first serve.

The average visit to the museum and Homesite lasts three to four hours. Plan for one to two hours inside the museum, and at lease an hour and a half for the Homesite tour.

$5 Students & Senior Citizens
$3 Children ages 6-12
Children under 6 free

Admission includes a tour of the Hezekiah Alexander Homesite at 1:15 or 3:15pm.

Special Events & Programs:

In support of the mission to capture and share the stories of the Charlotte region, the museum has a wide variety of special educational program and event offerings throughout the year. Plan your visit on one of those dates!


Parking:
There is ample free parking for visitors arriving by cars, vans, or buses in our secure, on-site lot. The parking lot is well lit and monitored by security cameras.  Also the museum has a covered portico entrance for visitor drop-off and pick-up in inclement weather.


Accessibility:
The Charlotte Museum of History is fully accessible to visitors with limited mobility. Ample parking has been reserved for handicapped visitors in the museum's parking lot.

Each of the five galleries in the museum is wheelchair accessible, with an elevator allowing access between the first and second floors. Restrooms located on both floors are also wheelchair accessible. The Hezekiah Alexander House, on the grounds of the Charlotte Museum of History, is not wheelchair accessible. 


Dining:
Picnic in the past! Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the beautiful park-like setting of the museum grounds. There are also many great restaurants located near the museum.
Vending machines are available inside the museum for beverages and snacks.


Photo Restrictions:

To maintain the integrity of all museum artifacts and displays, no flash photography is permitted in the museum, galleries, and homesite buildings.
